Types of Business Migration Visas
The Business Migration Visa is a state or territory-nominated programme that consists of three sub-classes. The business migration visas include:
- Business and Innovation Provisional Visas (Subclass 188)
- Business and Innovation Permanent Visas (Subclass 888)
- Business Talent Visas (Subclass 132)
The Business Innovation Subclass 188 Visa
The Business Innovation and Investment (Provisional) visa (subclass 188) is a provisional visa for successful business innovators and investors who expect to invest or enter into business in Australia and contribute to the growth of the Australian economy.
Applicants for the subclass 188 visa are required to submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) through SkillSelect and be nominated by a state or territory government or Austrade on behalf of the Australian government before being invited to apply for this visa.
Holding this visa is the first phase before becoming eligible to qualify for a Business Innovation and Investment (Permanent) visa (subclass 888).
The visa includes four streams:
- 188A – Business Innovation Stream
- 188B – Investor Stream
- 188SIV – Significant Investor Stream
- 188PIV – Premium Investor Stream
The Business Innovation and Investment (Permanent) Subclass 888 Visa
The Business Innovation and Investment (Permanent) is a permanent residence visa and is the second phase of the Business Innovation and Investment subclass 188 provisional visa.
Either the primary visa holder of a provisional Business Innovation and Investment visa (subclass 188) or the secondary visa holder who is the spouse or de facto partner can apply for this visa after they have satisfied the requirements of their subclass 188 provisional visa.
You are not required to submit a new Expression of Interest or be invited to apply for this visa. You must be nominated by a state or territory government agency or Austrade on behalf of the Australian government if you are seeking to fulfil the primary criteria.
